Kevin's Perspective: Macy and I met for the first time on the very first day of freshman year at Auburn. It was a morning class and both our first ever day of college. I sat next to a guy in the front of the room named Dylan and Macy sat next to a girl across the room. When the professor started class, she introduced herself and then said that since everyone in the class was a freshman that we should meet some of our peers. After hearing this, Dylan and I immediately decided that we wanted to talk to the two blonde girls across the room. I probably came across as rude to the other girl because I only wanted to talk to Macy. So, in the short timeframe we were given we covered the basics: our names, majors, and hometowns. In classic fashion, by the next class I forgot her last name, so I got it off the class sign in sheet and followed her on social media. From that point on Macy and I would talk after class, with the conversation going a little longer each time. Not far into the school year Macy invited me to one of her sorority date parties, and obviously I couldn’t turn that down. It’s also worth noting that she did this by direct messaging me on Instagram. The date party was awesome, and we had a great opportunity to get to know each other’s personalities. I tried so hard to be cool the entire time, even though I was sweating through my shirt. After the date party, I walked Macy back to her apartment and she asked if I wanted to meet her roommate, so I went inside and I got to meet Molly. For the rest of the night, we had fun swapping all kinds of stories about their time in high school together and mine. I knew from that night that Macy truly was a special woman who was loved by so many people. As the school year went on, Macy and I continued to hangout together and introduce our friend groups. We would regularly hangout after class, get all our friends together for movie nights or game nights, go to church events together, and go to cookout together. It did not take long for me to see the beautiful heart that Macy had for the Lord and for other people. No matter how much I annoyed her she kept sticking around. That fall I also got to meet Macy and I’s biggest support at a tailgate, Mrs. White. I was so nervous to meet Macy’s parents because I really wanted them to like me and so I am sure I looked like an idiot. But it went well enough for Mrs. White to help convince Macy to date me later on. Macy and I remained good friends all of freshman year, but nothing more than that. I was convinced that Macy did not like me in a romantic way, so I tried so hard to not like her, but I just could not shake the feeling. When freshman year ended Macy and I talked almost every day of summer despite being in separate states. I could not wait to get back to Auburn at the end of summer to see her and our friends again. Finally, summer ended and we were able to meet back up in Auburn. I was straight up giddy. One of the first weekends back Macy was helping throw Molly a birthday party and asked me to help set up. Everyone had a great time at the party and afterwards Macy and I ended up talking forever. It was clear that both of us had missed each other and that there were mutual feelings between us. Not long after that night, Macy and I went on our first date. It has been an incredible journey that God has put us on, and he has made it clear that we were meant for each other. Everyday I get to enjoy growing closer and pursuing Macy and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her. Macy's Perspective: I met Kevin on the very first day of college in my very first class. It was a 9 a.m. history class, and Professor Kosmin made us introduce ourselves to at least two other tables. Kevin and the guy next to him came up to the table I was sitting at with my friend, Kate. We started talking, saying some fun facts about ourselves, and as soon as class was over I texted my mom and said: “my history class is fire.” She responded: “Class is fire? What, cute boys or something?” I said: “well yes. The Georgia one was very cute and nice." About a week or two later, he agreed to go to my first sorority date party with me freshman year (I asked him by messaging him on Instagram…which I quickly learned was NOT a cool way to ask someone). I had an awesome time at this date party, and I thought dang, this Kevin guy is pretty cool and SO easy to talk to. We became such good friends and would talk for hours after our history class, get late night Cook Out, and study together for months. I was in denial that I liked him or that he liked me. One night I was studying late at night in the library with my friend Rachel. Kevin was texting me of course, and I mentioned that I was craving goldfish. About 45 minutes later, Kevin texted and asked what room I was in in the library and next thing I knew, Kevin was standing at the door with a bag of Goldfish (he had to go to several stores, because most were closed). I looked over at Rachel who was standing there, jaw dropped, with the biggest smile on her face. She said “Macy. That is not normal. He likes you.” That was the first time I thought okay, maybe something is up. I started to catch on that maybe Kevin liked me, but I wasn’t ready to admit that I liked him yet. Although, I still wanted to find any excuse to hang out with him or talk to him. I “struggled” with my geology homework, so he would come help me out, and by that I mean he did it for me. I made him send me the answers to our spring semester's history tests (he was in the class before mine, so it was the perfect excuse to talk to him and I got the answers, so killed two birds with one stone), we continued to get cookout milkshakes together, and when the end of freshman year came, I wanted to tell him bye, so I called him up and said I needed help moving my fridge out of my dorm. So he came and proceeded to move ALL my stuff out of my dorm. Kevin has always gone above and beyond for me, even in the little things, and it never goes unnoticed :). Over the summer, Kevin and my friend Molly came to visit me while I worked at the beach. One night, Molly asked me: “Do you like Kevin?” and I said “ I just feel like he’s my husband.” Sophomore year came around and at Molly’s birthday party (sorry molly) I realized I totally liked Kevin and had for so long. About a month went by and I finally said: “so you can ask me on a date now.” On September 19, 2023 we went on our first date to the Irish Bred Pub right outside of Auburn. I had always loved spending time with Kevin, but I could tell on our first date that our relationship was going to be something special. On the ride home I was so impatient (I don’t know what got into me), but I said “so are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend or what.” He said “oh.. Well.. I didn’t think that was something I should ask on the first date, but sure! Will you be my girlfriend?” And we’ve been together ever since. When I got back to my dorm that night I wrote Kevin a note describing our first date and said he could open it when we got engaged ( I actually have yet to give him that haha) I knew he was the one long before we started dating, and it has been such a blessing doing college together. We have learned so much about ourselves and about each other. We’ve gone through so many highs together and some lows every now and then, and it has been nothing short of amazing having Kevin with me through it all! The Lord really knew I needed him from the second I started school in Auburn, even if I did give him a hard time there for a minute :). We got engaged on February 21 of this year and it was the best night ever. Kevin makes life so much more fun and is an honorable leader in whatever he does. We’ve been so excited planning our future life together. We cannot wait to be married in October and celebrate with all of our closest friends and family!
